Ps Joshua – Armor of God & Weapons of our Warfare
- Our Position: Christ has seated at the right hand of God & we are also seated with Christ. We are not defeated or uncertain of who we are. (Eph 1 & 2)
- Reality of the Spiritual Fight: We are in a spiritual battle. We should no longer look only in the physical but, spiritual – which is more real than the physical. (2 Kings 6). There are forces working against us! But we are not alone. We also need to ask God to open our eyes to see not only the forces AGAINST us but, also the armies that are FOR us.
- Because of our position, we have power over sin & flesh, over the world & over Satan and his demons!
- Weapons of War – word, name and Blood of Jesus
- Vehicles of War – prayer, praise and proclamations
Eph 6:10-20
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the [b]wiles of the devil.
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of [c]the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Prayer is an important weapon that God has given us !
1 Timothy 2:1 à First of all Pray.
We need to begin everything with prayer.
When do we pray ?
We are to pray always, all the time!!
What do we pray for ?
Boldness to share the gospel.
Paul mentions boldness twice.
Whom do we pray for ?
For all the Saints of God.
Armor of God:
God has given us the armor!
For what? – you may be able to withstand in the evil day & you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
First, that we would be able to stand against all the spiritual attacks that we face.
Second, to stand at the end of it all as an overcomer.
We start from a position of victory , not from a position of defeat.
We start by understanding our position in Christ, with the realization that Christ has already won the victory.
We know that we are seated with Christ in heavenly places, at the right side of God the Father.
Why? – Spiritual battle: we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of [c]the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
- The belt of Truth:
Truth is who God says we are.
Rev 12:10
For the accuser of our brothers and sisters
Satan is called the accuser and a deceiver. The only way to find and stay in the truth is holding on to God’s word.
The Romans when going to war, used to “gird” their clothing via a belt or “girdle”.
When we base our lives on the Truth of God’s word, we can only then go to War! Only then we can know who we are fighting & How to fight!
