Ministry of Reconciliation

2Corinthians 5:17-21

  1. New creation in Christ

The old has gone, new has come.

Putting off the old and putting on the new.
Putting off our guilt, condemnation, sin, shame, fear and pain & putting on the righteousness, freedom, boldness and victory of God.

God forgives our past and remembers it no more.
Isaiah 1:18

Going from victory to victory, not from victory to defeat.

Isaiah 61:10
God has given us His robe of righteousness.
We need to remember who we are in Christ.

Jesus has credited righteousness in our account because of what Jesus has done.
Romans 4:22

Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

  1. God has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ.
  2. He has given us the ministry of Reconciliation.

He is reconciling the world to Himself, not counting people’s sins against them.

  1. He has given us the ministry of Reconciliation.

We carry His gospel message with us and in us.
We are to shine his light in the dark world.
2 Cor 4:6

He has given us His treasure in jars of clay.
2 Cor 4:7

  1. We are ambassadors for Christ.

We need to constantly remind ourselves that we are representing Christ all the time.

We cannot forget this, just as an athlete doesn’t forget their diet throughout their career.

For some people, we are the only representative of Christ or the only Bible that they will ever see or read.

a. We are first reconciled to God through Jesus.

b. We then become the righteousness of God.

c. Then, as Christ’s ambassadors, we make an appeal to the world on behalf of Christ.
